Some words of warning
Within the carpet cleaning industry , there are ,like any other service or industry
certain things to be aware of , rip offs, cons, added extras
Commonly known amongst professional carpet cleaners, as Spash and dash and Bait and switch. Two practices frowed apon, basicly both with the same aim , to get you to pay more than you expected and, or pay for a service that gives poor results, and quite often detrimental effects to your carpets and furnishings.
Spash and dash, they target certain areas
usualy , a company offering low prices, and unbelievable offers,on fliers or mail shots . they will usualy give a fixed price over the phone
not even bothering to see what they are dealing with.
they turn up to clean your carpets, and simply wet your carpets through using little or no cleaning agents , take your money and thats the last you will ever hear of them.
Bait and switch
Not quite the same, but there to get more moneyfrom you, and as the name suggests , they tempt you with low prices again on leaflets in editorials and local papers
but here the difference is the price they tell you, will in fact end up been far greater when they arrive to clean or finished cleaning. giving a number of reasons for the inflated price. Example". We have had to use more different stain removers," or "it was worse than they expected" their is a charge for deodourising and the possibilities of endless other charges.
In the end far greater bill than you thought!!
Their are infact many professionals who advertise with leaflet drops and the majority are perfectly capable, after all it is a good form of advertising so because you see a leaflet does not mean they are any of above, but a few tell tale signs do help spot them.
Are they a local company? look in the phone book, if not beware.
Are they a company, portraying to be local ? again look in phone book.
Is their a mobile number only ? very often a give away.
Are they a company from else where in the country ? who just happen to be working in the area?
again, alarm bells should start ringing.
A little common sense could save you money in the end.
